Jessica Lamirand, Yoga Alliance RYT 500

Yoga has been a part of Jessica’s life since childhood. She has fond memories of her mom teaching her tree, sun salutations, and, of course, lion when she had a sore throat. In 2000, she attended her first official yoga class in hopes that it would relieve stress and bring a deeper meaning to her life. It did both. Five years later, Jessica completed a yoga teacher training program in Classical Hatha Yoga and eventually went on to finish a second 200-hour training focusing on Vinyasa Flow. In August 2018, Jessica finished her 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training where she became certified to teach Yin, Restorative, and Yoga Nidra. In addition, she has two MA degrees: one in Elementary Education and another in Art, Literature, and Culture. Jessica is passionate about the therapeutic qualities that both art and yoga share, encouraging others to heal themselves through their individual expression.

Leading with a gentle approach, Jessica encourages her students to find balance in their yoga practice: accepting themselves as they are while encouraging them to challenge themselves enough to find the joy of growth. With an interest in alignment and the incorporation of all eight limbs of yoga into her instruction, Jessica is grateful for the opportunity to share her love of yoga with others. Jessica is honored to be an adjunct faculty member at Pikes Peak Community College, teaching Yoga I and Yoga II to undergraduate students and helping them discover the wholeness and strength within themselves as they learn ways to relieve stress through asana, prayanama, meditation, and diet.

In addition to teaching yoga, Jessica is an arts educator, writer, publisher, and photographer. When she has time, she enjoys knitting, sewing, gardening, hiking, cycling, traveling, reading, and spending time with her wise husband and two weird, wise, adorable cats.

Jessica would like to thank and honor all of her yoga teachers over the years, including: Lori Black, Cheryl Deer, Pat Gulya, Debbie Joyous, Hansa Knox, Teryl Lundquist, Charlotte Matsumura, Mike Matsumura, Jessica Patterson, Hethyr Pletsch, Santosh Powell, Bob Rose, Tammra Straub, Sandra Walters, Jeremy Wolf, and many other wonderful, dedicated teachers.
